Aquarium Backgrounds I choose an aquarium background to
coordinate with the room the aquarium will be in, the gravel, the type of fish planned, etc. Very bright backgrounds can be less than calming,
but may liven up a child's room. Any background will help to hide the cords and powerfilters hanging over the back of the tank. Your background
and gravel color selection set the tone for the aquarium. Neutral gravel colors will make your fish and plants appear brighter.
Sorry, we no longer ship gravel - freight in plus freight out got overwhelming. This background is 32 inches tall, one of only 2 selections in that height.
More background patterns are available for 29 and 55 gallon (19 inch glass height) aquariums than any other size, but they are
available in 12 inch and 24 inch heights as well, with the images scaled to the height of your tank. When looking at them, also consider how large the
ornaments you plan to put in will be, and how you will position them to bring out the best from the ornament and the photo behind your tank.

Aquarium Decorations I generally use one outstanding ornament, in most aquariums, then choose more natural appearing
decorations that coordinate with the fish, the room, the 'theme' if there is one. This crystal ball flashes with 'laser' colored led lights, and a stream of
air bubbles running past it are just fantastic. I'm not sure what the fish think about it, but in a house with young children it seems to suit. There are
quieter, more authentic looking ornaments on the ornaments page as well, but this one looks like magic. |
Aquarium Driftwoods Banyon is one of my favorite driftwoods - too tall for a 10 gallon, but looks good in a standard
height tank like a 29 or a 55 gallon. It doesn't look dwarfed. Clown loaches use it for a hideout, so if you plan on SEEING your loaches, this or any other hollow driftwood might
not be a good choice. I like to lean it against a lift tube, but I like undergravel filtration so --- that accounts for my taste. |
