Disconnect sterilizing systems (UV, Ozone, Chemical Disinfectant Sterilizers, Protein Skimmers, Foam Separators, Sub-Micron Mechanical Filters of 5 micron or less ) prior to introduction of bacteria.

Aquarium must contain ammonia or fish waste on introduction.

Systems running pure RO or DI water should introduce a minute quantity of phosphorus prior to introduction. 1/2 dose of a pH Lowering product containing phosphate is adequate.

DAS and other low oxygen systems be sure oxygen content is adequate. Bacteria increase Biological Oxygen Demand, and could starve fish of oxygen. If oxygen levels are below 7 ppm, add a strong air pump and several air stones prior to bacteria introduction. If you aren't sure, add the air pump and stones.
