FritzZyme 360 Gravel Cleaner

Breaks down sludge with 8 species of bacteria. Solid waste must be broken down before nitrosomonas and nitrobacter bacteria can process it. FritzZyme 360 is ideal for use in tanks with large amounts of organic material that isn't being effectively removed by water changes. Be sure tank has an adequate oxygen supply before using this product. DAS systems are particularly vulnerable both to sludge buildup, and a barely adequate oxygen supply.

DAS and other low oxygen systems be sure oxygen content is adequate. Bacteria increase Biological Oxygen Demand, and could starve fish of oxygen. If oxygen levels are below 7 ppm, or you aren't sure, add a strong air pump and several air stones prior to bacteria introduction.

EF tested on a 115 gallon DAS with a lot of crumbled rotting driftwood that water changes and gravel cleaning weren't catching. An emergency trip to add an air pump was required the next day, as the bacteria fed and multiplied. The results are visible on the Aquarium Design page, it's the Discus tank.
